While no translation is perfect in every respect the excellence of the CSB cannot be overstated. It's nearly as literal as the ESV, but it's more accurate overall. The translators made great judgment calls as to when to translate things literally and when to be "dynamic" to get the meaning across. It does so using contemporary English and the least amount of words. I still prefer Psalms in the NKJV, but that's just my upbringing.
I initially bought a faux-leather version of this Bible which had to be returned because of quality control issues. The edges of the paper paste-down lining were not properly glued, the paper was extremely wavy and many pages were stuck together.
The goatskin leather used for the cover of this edition isn't the premium goatskin that's used in the $200 Bibles, but it's noticeably better than the faux-leather. The paste down lining for interior cover is made of some kind of vinyl, much better than the paper lining is used in the cheaper version of this Bible. Finally, the paper seems to be a tiny bit better. None of the pages required unsticking.
The 11.25 point font is easy to read even in dimly lit environments and I really like the end-of-verse cross reference format. I wish there were a black letter edition available. The words of Christ in red makes it difficult to read because there is less contrast. Also all of the words of the Bible are inspired, not just the things that Jesus said. I recently saw a Bible that had the words of Christ in dark blue that looked incredible. Maybe Holman will copy that idea.
The page dimensions are 8.5 x 5.25 inches and it's 1.5 inches thick. It fits comfortably in my hand.
