A steadily evolving suspense story that is pieced together by Sabrin, a CIA linguist of enviable talent. Her ability to pull obscure references and international folklore into a whole picture is fascinating. Her connection to Ryder, Inicuus Cerberus Security operator and his K9 Voodoo, is remarkable. They build relationships, both professional and personal, based on honesty, chemistry and mutual respect. A wonder to behold. Although the completion of their mission is inventive, the overall completion of the mission seems incomplete and a bit rushed and vague, which is a shame because the rest of the story is detail oriented and satisfying. But the ending is happy for Sabrin, Ryder and Voodoo, and that's what counts.

Defender's Instinct is the third books in the Cerberus Tactical K9 series by Fiona Quinn. Ryder is in a tactical K9 competition with Voodoo when his dog notices a woman on the sidelines. Everywhere Ryder turns that same woman is there. Turns out Sabin was on vacation to visit her family in Slovakia for her grandmother's birthday when she is assigned a mission by the CIA. Ryder and Voodoo will be her partners for the mission and since she is a linguist for the CIA she will be able to translate for Ryder. To help with their cover they go to Sabin's family for the birthday celebration of her grandmother. Of course her family now has expectations there will be a wedding announcement soon since Sabin brought her boyfriend to meet her family. She can do damage control later, it's all for the good of the mission. There is danger at every turn, they are being followed by four men, they get shot at but they can't let that stop them, They have a mission to save 26 lives. I loved this book. The characters are amazing and the story is original. I love Voodoo. This is a must read!

Like everyone I am very busy with all that we All are dealing with in this crazy world.Thank you for giving me the gift of being able to step into a story that made me sigh,laugh,and re charged my brain. The story line for all 3, in my opinion ,was interesting,well written and made me care about the characters. I loved the attention to detail and depth of each of the characters ( canine and human). I must confess any story with a dog gets my attention. The 5 stars from me for this series really, really deserves them! Thank you. I found this authors writing style to be realistic and well thought out. No cutting corners with details. I loved all 3 and am looking forward to reading everything she has written Thank you, Ms Quinn.These books are all 'keepers`.

Dogs know best. The K9 angle is present from the start and I loved how it flowed throughout the entire story. Seeing CIA agent Grey again was also a bonus.

There is a new couple and a new assignment with a slew of questions. Ryder and Sabrin have n instant connection and Voodoo know there is something special about Sabrin. The details about dual citizenship, the previous case troubles, the side angle of dog napping...this story had so many details to add to the overarching concern of the kidnapped researchers.

Well written and fast paced. This is a great K9 action romance that builds off the same company and a few characters in the Iniquus world. Another great read and addition!

This is the 3rd book in the Cerberus Tactical K9 series. It is Ryder, Sabrin, and Voodoo's story. I love the characters, their romance, and their friendships. There is intrigue and of course action. I love the K9s and their strength, loyalty, instinct, and intelligence. I really love the dialogue and that I always learn something from Fiona Quinn's books, whether it is something about nature or another culture or training dogs or people. This book is so entertaining that I know I will re-read it many times.

I got the feeling even the author didn't know what to do with this book until we were 75% through. I really wanted to like this, but it is was just mish-mash with no clear path for soooo long. I like the scientific information thrown in - in this case, the discussion of languages. That wasn't the problem for me. I find that kind of thing interesting. My issue is that there was no clear storyline. Even within the text, the characters basically stated they didn't know what they were to do and why Sabrin was there. It's like the author couldn't figure out a real storyline for most of the book. Their mutual interest was hinted at early, but the actual relation came up all of the sudden and the ending was ridiculously way too quick and rushed. This author needs work on developing the more important elements to a greater degree and giving the story a connected purpose sooner.

I've read all 3 books in this series now and although the stories are different. I found them to be too predictable at the end. Which to me has resulted in a drop of a star on this review.

I guess for those who love the romantic endings will enjoy these books but for me, whose more of a suspense and military action buff. The endings have been anticlimactic for me.

A fun read that can be picked up and read as a stand-alone.

Ah! Sabrin, Ryder and Voodoo slot together like puzzle pieces, made for each other and totally comfortable...what they aren't comfortable with is the lack of intel for their mission, the game playing by agencies and governments, but this actually helps them grow closer. They only have each other and so all three have to trust each other completely to be successful. They make an awesome team and I especially liked the mental running commentary we get throughout from both Sabrin and Ryder.
The third book in the series and the third hit! Please tell me there are more to come in this series, I read the first three books on Kindle Unlimited.
