The triclinium (dining room) of the Villa Arianna in Stabiae (southern Italy) was richly decorated in the Fourth Pompeian Style with a large mythological scene depicting Dionysus’ discovery of Ariadne on the island of Naxos. The villa was named Arianna after this fresco.
