Palm-leaf Column of Ramesses II from Herakleopolis — This column is from a temple primarily dedicated to he dam god Heryshef of Herakleopolis. Ramesses II is twice shown making offerings to a local form of Osiris. The god wears his typical feather crown but is in a kilt not his usual mummy form. Vertical texts further up and down display cartouches with Ramesses' throne and birth names. Those of his son Merenptah, who was already old when he inherited the throne, were hurriedly added in extant spaces near the bottom. 19th Dynasty, reigns of Ramesses II (1279-1213 BCE) and Merenptah (1213-1203 BCE).
