This is one of a series of panels that showed Tiglath-pileser III's military campaigns in southern Iraq. On the left is a captured town, with a siege engine beside the gate. In the center, Assyrian clerks with tablet and scroll record details of the campaign. The civilian prisoners with their possessions are moving to the right, towards the Assyrian king who was shown on another panel. From the Central Palace at Nimrud (ancient Kalhu), Mesopotamia, Iraq. (The British Museum, London).
