For centuries, Boudhanath has been an important place of pilgrimage and meditation. In 1979, Boudha became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The ancient Buddhist stupa of is one of the largest in the world. Throughout the day pilgrims circumambulate the structure chanting mantras. One lap is approx. 150 meters.

Walk around the stupa clockwise and spin the prayer wheels clockwise.

People walk three or more times while repeating the mantra quietly or aloud, as a daily ritual.
